There is an aesthetic relationship between my work and the repetitive patterns and symbols found on these screen tones used in Japanese Manga. The result is both pleasing and intriguing. However, the work comes with a certain amount irony. Here, the notion of ‘a flood of foreigners’ is taken as a metaphor alongside the literal yearly flooding of this fenland district; and the overlay from a Letraset from Japan, previously a British made product.
